Quick answers to common questions. If you still run into trouble, please use Report an issue.
Do I need an account to browse speakers?
No. You can browse and search speaker profiles without signing in. Signing in is only needed to create or edit your own profile and manage your talks and trips.
I didn’t receive the sign-in email link. What should I try?
Check spam/junk folders, and make sure you entered the email correctly. Some institutional filters delay automated emails; try again after a few minutes, or try a different email address.
Does my Lect-Earn email need to match my ORCID login?
No. ORCID authentication simply proves control of an ORCID iD. The ORCID iD will be linked to the Lect-Earn account you are currently signed into.
ORCID linking failed (e.g., #orcid=invalid_state). What information helps troubleshoot?
Please report: (1) the full page URL after returning to Lect-Earn (including the #orcid=... part), (2) your browser/device, (3) whether you used multiple tabs or the back button, and (4) roughly how long you spent on the ORCID page before returning.
How do I contact a speaker?
Open the speaker profile and use the contact button. The message is sent by email, and the speaker’s address is not displayed publicly.
Why don’t I see my profile on the map?
Map markers are created from trip entries. Add at least one trip with a city (and ideally a country) and save. If multiple trips overlap in the same city, markers may stack.
Can I delete my profile and data?
Yes. In the editor, use the delete option to permanently remove your profile and associated items (talks, trips, etc.). This cannot be undone.
How do recommendations work?
Recommendations are short endorsements associated with a speaker profile. Depending on site settings, speakers may opt out of recommendation notifications.
Something looks wrong or confusing — what should I send in an issue report?
Include the page URL, what you expected, what happened instead, and steps to reproduce. Screenshots are helpful. Use the
